Invar36 for Metal AM
You know the Invar effect❓ #MaterialsMonday
The relative lack of thermal expansion in relation with temperature changes was even awarded with the Nobel prize in 1920 🏆
The Iron Nickel Alloy Invar 36 / FeNi36 / 1.3912 is currently equipped on one of our #MetalAM LPBF systems at Rosswag Engineering
The iron-based alloy with 36 wt.-% nickel has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion of up to 250 °C. In addition, the material Invar 36® has a high toughness and ductility. The low thermal expansion leads to a wide range of application possibilities, for example in the field of measuring instruments or in the optoelectronic industry.
