Bronze coatings for plain bearings
Bronze coatings as solid lubricant for plain bearings 😮 Multi-Material application for #MetalAM
In order to design a sustainable and resource efficient coating process, Rosswag Engineering produced several copper tin alloy powders by gas atomisation. The bronze coatings act as solid lubricant with good gliding properties in axial piston machines. After metal powder processing, initial LPBF parameter studies and coating tests on high carbon steels were conducted on our Alpha Laser AL3D system. We will keep you up to date with the metallographic results!
The research project "Energy-efficient and resource-saving coating of tribologically stressed surfaces by extreme high-speed Laser Material Deposition (ERBE)” is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany in the program “KMU-innovativ” under the funding code 01LY2109C and is supervised by the German Aerospace Center
Project partners: Fraunhofer ILT, Admos and Bosch Rexroth
